Life Lessons: Training with Kids
As someone who trained a lot from a very young age, teaching kids the importance of health and fitness is something that I have always been really passionate about. Back when I was a kid, we didn’t have the information that we do now about the importance of mobility and stretching, and working from the bottom up. Of course, as a kid you can do so much sport and exercise but if we don’t look after our bodies through things like strength and conditioning of the little muscles, it can really impact us in a negative way later down the track. This, I strongly believe, is why I’ve had so many injuries from such a young age.
Aside from teaching them the importance of looking after their bodies, working with kids in a fitness environment is one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever done. As someone who has been working closely with children through Surf Clubs for a long time, I can honestly say that they are absolutely incredible in a team fitness environment. It’s just the energy. It’s insane, and just the little things. The support that they can give you when you don’t even know that you need it.
And the dedication! I’ve noticed lately from coaching kids for Surf Club that their dedication and passion towards training is something that we all should really look at. And their consistency with training too. They just get in, they get it done and they love it!
If you would like your child to get in and learn some important life skills in a fun and safe environment, why not sign them up for our 8-week Acro term where they will be taught the basics behind gymnastics and acrobatics as well as the importance of a healthy body and how to achieve it.
